'Times Scholars' is an initiative undertaken by The Times
of India to recognize and reward the brightest young minds in the country. TOI
invite class 12th students from all over the country to apply for the program
by filling out a simple form on our website. The students will be shortlisted
based on information given by them in the form, and the shortlisted candidates
will go through the next levels of testing. We have experts supporting us in
the initiative who will help us choose the top 20 Times Scholars on the basis
of qualities like reasoning ability, aptitude, knowledge, future vision etc.
TOI will then undertake the task of providing the best of
guidance and mentorship to these scholars in their fields of interest, enabling
them understand and adopt a thinking-reasoning model of learning that will help
them excel in whatever career option they choose for themselves. TOI will also give
each of them cash scholarships worth Rs. 5 Lakh, over a period of 4
years of their graduation.
Important Points to remember:
Eligibility:
Students currently studying in Class XII of any school in India.
- The application form can only be submitted online.
- 20 selected students will get scholarships worth Rs. 5 lakhs each and it will be disbursed over a period of 4 years. The scholarship amount will be disbursed via a bank transfer in the bank account of the parent/ legal guardian of the Times Scholar. This will be done in 4 stages @ Rs 1.25 lakhs per year for 4 years subject to the applicant receiving a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent in his/ her exams applicable to that year. The continuation of the scholarship is subject to continuation of the student'1s education.
- If any applicant is found to have submitted false information, his/ her application would be summarily rejected.
- The applicants would be shortlisted over a 3 stage process comprising of online application, aptitude test, group discussions & personal interviews. The factors that would be considered are academic excellence, extra-curricular achievements, intelligence and above all the potential to represent India at a world stage in academics.
- The performance of Class IX and Class XI final exam will consider.
- The short-listed candidates would be informed about the next steps via e-mail as per the schedule listed above. The list of shortlisted candidates will also be available on the website.
- Shortlisted candidates are required to attend the group discussions & personal interviews.
- Original & Photocopy of mark sheet of Class 9th, Class 10th and Class 11th.
- Original & Photocopy of a proof of enrolment in the class and school specified (Identity Card)
